I am an Augmented and Virtual Reality Developer with great interest and passion for creating projects to improve the patient experience for use within the Medical Healthcare Environment.
Having been a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital for many years, I want to use my history and experience of being in Hospital, with my knowledge of 3D, to create AR and VR projects to improve the patient experience for young children in Hospitals.
Currently working on a few ‘test’ projects with clinical teams at GOSH in my spare time:
• Craniofacial/3D Print Team: Creating an AR using a patient’s 3D cranium, converted from an MRI scan using Materialise Mimic. I have cleaned up and optimized the model so it’s suitable for an Android phone. I also textured the 3D model using Substance Painter to make it look more realistic. Built using Vuforia+Unity. Trying to get a sterilised 3D print image target so it can safely be used during surgery.
• Clinical Simulation Team: I have created an almost identical 3D Room of GOSH’s Anaesthetic Room, which includes machines/equipment. I have built it using Unity and have it working a Google Cardboard. We are trying to see if we can use this VR experience to ease patient fears before being Anaesthetised, and to familiarise them with the actual room. Myself and the team are also trying to get a 360 VR experience working as well
• Worked on a project for a client where I had to design a low poly environment for use with the HTC Vive. I was updating my client with images/video recordings of the work, and tips/advice and criticism of the project was given to improve it throughout its creation.
• I developed the project myself from start to finish; Modelling and texturing in Maya, importing and setting up the scene in Unity, and finally getting it working/intractable with the HTC Vive.
